Journey Within - Paintings by Katherine Johnson and 21 Days Inside China - Photographs by Tracy May Fouts is now open at Gainey Gallery and will continue through August 23.
 
Gallery Hours are Monday - Friday 12:00 - 5:00 p.m., and the Artist reception is this Sunday, June 27 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Gainey Gallery is located in the Van Singel Fine Arts Center in Byron Center, MI - 1.5 miles west of US-131 at 84th Street and Burlingame SW.


In other news, I recently secured a venue for ArtPrize, so I will officially be showing at Monroe Community Church. The piece I am working on is a large 3-dimensional combination of painting and interactive sculpture, so it should be worth seeing. I will post additional updates about reception times, etc. as information becomes available.

Festival for the Arts is here, and I have 2 paintings showing in the juried exhibit at the Old Federal Building. The exhibit will be open this weekend, next weekend (June 4,5,6) for Festival, and the following weekend (June 11,12,13.) You may have noticed that my website is sporting a new page these days. The Russia page is reserved for new work that I am selling to benefit a mission trip I am taking to St. Petersburg, Russia this August. My goal is to create a series of smaller paintings (with smaller prices) so that more of you can afford to buy art and be involved in this awesome ministry opportunity with me. Right now the selection is limited, but I am working on several additional pieces, so check back later for more work. If the paintings are still a little out of your price range, I am offering limited edition Giclée prints of my work for $75, including an archival white mat. Have something a little different in mind? I will also accept commissions. Just contact me with a description of what you are looking for, and I will reply with information on pricing and the time it will take to complete the work.

Kendall College of Art and Design will be holding their annual open house May 4 - 8. I will have one piece on display in the graduate student exhibition as a part of Open House week, and it is a great opportunity to see lots of artwork from Kendall students in many different majors. The opening reception will take place on May 4 from 4 - 7p.m.

This is somewhat of a half-update, since I don't have a lot of specific details to share yet, but I would like to mention a couple of upcoming events with more information to come. First, I have a joint show with Tracy Fouts at Gainey Gallery in Byron Center this Summer, but the exact opening date it still to be determined. Second, I am currently working on an entry for Artprize for this year. I don't want to give too many details just yet, but after sitting out from Artprize last year, I'm excited to be involved. I will add more updates as I have more information, so stay tuned!

Welcome to the new Kjillustration site! You may notice that my site has gained a new look and a lot of new content this week. I am proud to announce that I have an all-new painting portfolio, an artist statement and resume available to download, as well as this new blog - which will be updated with information on upcoming exhibitions and events. My design portfolio has also been updated, with more updates to come as I am able to transfer files from my work computer.
